August is Back to School month!! Can you believe it?! There is still time to enjoy summer events and activities in Downtown Flagstaff. Check out some of our favorite activities to do with friends and family to celebrate the joy of summer and the start of a great new school year!
Back to School Shopping
Grab a bite or drink from a downtown shop and head out with your friends and family for local back to school shopping at Basement Marketplace, PJ Chilcottage, Shoes & Such, or Rainbows End! Plus check out Downtown Flagstaff's newest shop Flagstaff Shoebox to grab a new pair of shoes for the school year! From basics, statement pieces, jewelry, accessories and shoes, downtown has everything you need to create the perfect school wardrobe!
Labor Day is our last weekend of Movies on the Square! Don’t miss this FREE family-friendly event before school starts! Grab to-go food from your favorite local restaurant, add some concessions from our concessions booth, and enjoy a summer movie under the stars! Our remaining movies are:

Grab a Cold Summer Treat
Enjoy the last weeks of summer with a chilly treat! Grab frozen yogurt, gelato, or ice cream from Yogeart, Mozelle's Downtown Bakery, The Sweet Shoppe, or Flagstaff Chocolate Company! Or grab a refreshing iced coffee, iced tea, juice or smoothie from Late for the Train, Steep Fine Tea, Firecreek Coffee, Flagstaff Coffee Company, Macy’s European Coffeehouse and Bakery, or The Juice Pub & Eatery!
Farmers Market Picnic + Live Music
Stop by the Community Farmers Market in the City Hall Parking Lot on Sunday’s from 8am-12pm, and have a picnic! Shop local produce, handmade goods, food trucks and more, and head to Heritage Square for a picnic with live music from Sundays on the Square!
Family Bike Ride
Rent electric bikes from Electric Bikes of Flagstaff and enjoy a bike ride through downtown! Spend quality time with family or friends in Flagstaff’s beautiful summer weather!
Head to the Downtown Flagstaff Library to grab some books for school! Whether you’re looking for fun books, or to get a head start for school; the library is a great place to visit! (+ check out their fun crafts and activities!)
Have some fun while getting back into the learning mindset with a stop at Planet Science, located at 109 Leroux St. Take part in science experiment stations and discover space events and science kits to learn about science and space!
