Making a Forever Friend in Flagstaff
Category: Itineraries
Lynda Fleischer and her husband Paul have been the owners of Altitudes Bar and Grill here in downtown Flagstaff since 2003. Coming to Flagstaff to study journalism at NAU, Lynda fell in love with the beautiful mountain town and has lived here for over 40 years now, making her a Flagstaff expert. Lynda and her husband had the idea for opening up Altitudes when they were living in Guam. They found out their favorite local bar and grill closed back in Flagstaff, so when they moved back, they decided they were going to open a restaurant of their own. Lynda and Paul’s motto is to “make a forever friend” with whoever walks through their door, and they love that everyday is different because they always have different people coming in from all over the place. Lynda loves to hike, bike, ski and golf, but one of her other passions is simply meeting new people and sharing things about Flagstaff with them.
If Lynda could recommend one place to someone visiting downtown Flagstaff for the first time, the Weatherford Hotel would be her choice. She says the rich history, the fabulous owners, and the restaurants within the hotel make it a sight to see. Charly's', the Historic Zane Grey room, The Gopher Hole are all different bar, grills, and ballrooms in the hotel that offer delicious food and beverages. They also host events throughout the year like Breakfast with Santa and the New Years Eve Pinecone Drop, plus they have live entertainment on the weekends. If you ever find yourself in downtown Flagstaff, make sure you add the Weatherford Hotel to your to-do list, then stop into Altitudes for some lunch and to say hello to Lynda!
