“Downtown for the Holidays” kicks off on Friday, November 29th in Downtown Flagstaff. Downtown will be lit with more than 150,000 individual lights, a length of 7 miles long, with more than 80 trees decorated. It will truly transform into Arizona’s Winter Wonderland!
Slack Friday, November 29th, All Day
It all starts with Slack Friday, which is a way for people to enjoy the shopping that comes with Black Friday, without the stress - hence “Slack Friday.” Instead of waking up at 4:00am and waiting in long lines at big box stores… sleep in, have a mimosa, and shop local! Holiday Shopping Passport, November 29th-January 1st
While your shopping during Slack Friday, make sure to pick up your Holiday Shopping Passport! The Holiday Shopping Passport runs November 29th – January 1st. The passport is an initiative led by Local First Arizona and the FDBA to encourage people to shop in locally owned Flagstaff businesses for the holidays. Passports are free and available at participating businesses. Shop at five participating local businesses or spend a combined total of $250 to be entered to win great prizes! Breakfast with Santa, December 7th & 14th, The Weatherford Hotel
The next event in Downtown Flagstaff is Breakfast with Santa, which is on December 7th and December 14th from 9am-10am at the Historic Weatherford Hotel. Grab your family & friends to enjoy a warm and tasty buffet-style breakfast, holiday crafts, carols and music. Winter Movie Series, Four Saturdays, The Orpheum Theater
Next up is the free Winter Movie Series at the Orpheum Theater which starts on Saturday, November 30th! We'll show family favorites every Saturday morning, November 30th to December 21st. We will be showing The Grinch (2018), Home Alone, Polar Express (with a special surprise!) and Elf! Doors open at 9:30 am with crafts and fun activities, and the movie begins at 10:00 am! Winter Wonderland & Tree Lighting
Following the Winter Movie Series is the City’s annual Winter Wonderland & Tree Lighting. This event brings thousands of people to Heritage Square starting at 3pm on December 7th. There will be luminaria bag decorating, a hot cocoa bar, live music, caroling, pictures with Santa and more! At 5:30pm, everyone gathers around to cheer on Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans and Santa as they arrive to lead a countdown to turn on the tree. 12 Bars of Christmas, December 14th, 12pm-6pm
Our next event is a new annual event called 12 Bars of Christmas! This event takes place on Saturday, December 14th from 12pm-6pm! Take off a day from the stress of the holiday season and treat yo' self! Bust out your Christmas attire, ugly sweaters, Santa gear, and get ready for a jolly good time. Tickets are on sale NOW! Locals' Night & Luminaria Stroll, December 17th, 5pm-8pm
A few days later is Locals Night & the Luminaria Stroll, which is back for the fourth year on Tuesday, December 17th. Continue the tradition of strolling illuminated Downtown sidewalks and enjoy listening to caroling from NAU Elevation - one of Northern Arizona University's acapella groups. Santa will be roaming around Downtown passing out treats and will be available for taking photos. The Luminaria Stroll takes place on Downtown’s monthly Locals’ Night, so make sure to take advantage of amazing deals from over 30+ participating businesses. Noon Year's Eve, December 31st, 10am-1pm, Heritage Square
The last event of the holiday season is Noon Years Eve. Celebrate the arrival of the New Year during the day with a countdown to noon! Starting at 10 a.m., participate in free activities which include firework art, live music, noisemakers, snacks and more. Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans will be leading the countdown and once the clock strikes noon, make a toast with sparkling apple cider and kisses… Hershey’s kisses!
