The NAZBA Wednesday Night Blues at Charlys lineup for August is going to be HOT! Leading off the month, is an exciting next gen Blues artist from Phoenix, by way of the Ukraine! Max Tovstyi has been in the US about three years, after fleeing his country, has made the US his home. He brings a SRV/Hendrix style to his playing which the audience immediately hears and feels and his 17 albums is a credit to his work ethic. Next up is new in the lineup and also comes from Phoenix. John Chavez from JC and the Juke Rockers will be rockin Charly's with some hot guitar and harmonica playing/ Also joining him on the drums (filling in for Dr. Bob) is Matt Indies leader of the Phoenix Area Drummers Facebook group. These guys represented the Phoenix Blues Society the last two years at the Memphis IBC, and are seasoned pros. The third Wednesday brings a special treat to Flagstaff and one not to be missed. Up from Tucson, is an exceptional, seventeen y/o (going on 30) young man I had the pleasure of playing with at the NAZBA jam in Cornville, Garrett James. Garrett and his band will be representing NAZBA and the Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation in Memphis, at the International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in January 2026. You'll find his guitar work and vocals well beyond his years, playing and singing both traditional and modern Blues styles. Rounding out the month of August, from Cottonwood, is multi-instrumentalist Garry Segal. Whether he is playing harmonica, guitar, or slide guitar, you'll always see and hear a quality show from him. Garry cut his teeth mostly in the Northeast, with his band Garry and the Moodswingers, with some good regional success and has been on the stage with some of the best. As usual, Roger Smith holding down the bass lines and Dr. Bob Robert Sellani goovin on the drums! Charly, at the Weatherford Hotel Flagstaff offers a great bar menu and excellent service! When you come, get there early for your favorite table or bar seat! After the first set, we invite jammers to play along with the band! SEE YOU THERE!
