ABOUT THE BOOK: Some mistakes can’t be undone. After an unpopular university professor in northern Arizona goes missing, Flagstaff detective Luis Ortega is called in to investigate. Soon after, a body turns up in a downtown parking garage. Meanwhile, journalist Miles Harper is looking for answers. Jealous administrators, bitter colleagues, and a slick media personality are all somehow connected to the case.

Maddy Sullivan was recently hired at the university. She informally assists in the investigation by supplying clues—risking her own safety. With pressure rising, young student journalists in danger, and a confession that doesn’t quite fit, Ortega must untangle who’s lying... and who’s protecting whom. A sharp, modern whodunit, MOUNTAIN CAMPUS MURDER is the second book in the Flagstaff Mysteries series by Mary Tolan.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Longtime reporter Mary Tolan worked as an award-winning community journalist for more than three decades, mostly in Arizona and New Mexico. She taught journalism at Northern Arizona University for twenty years. After retiring from teaching in 2021, she returned to her unfinished mystery novel, Mars Hill Murder, based in Flagstaff. Her most recent mystery is Mountain Campus Murder. Tolan grew up in Wisconsin and has lived in the Southwest for more than forty years. Her long-running monthly column The Long & Winding Road can be found in The Arizona Daily Sun. When she’s not writing, reading, or spending time with friends, she and her dog Maxx can be found out in the woods or traveling in her van. Tolan’s sons live in California, her stepdaughter in Nevada, and her dog by her side—wondering when the heck she will stop typing and go for a hike.
