Please join us to learn more about The Whale Foundation and learn how you can help us support the guides who keep us safe on our river trips. Or you can sign up to volunteer to work at the annual events, donate, or become a Whale Rep and be an expert in helping guides.

Whale Foundation board members will be at Mountain Sports Flagstaff to provide information on the Whale Foundation and how to support Grand Canyon River Guides. There will be an opportunity to buy Whale Foundation merchandise and sign up for membership and/or our newsletter.

Our Grand Canyon river guides are uniquely positioned to work extended amounts of time in a highly remote area. This can limit the guide’s ability to get to services, address issues at home, or maintain relationships. The transition from the river season to the off-season can also be difficult and can have a negative impact on the guide’s mental health. Even the small transitions throughout the season of being on and off the river can be tough for many guides.

The Whale Foundation provides support services that promote, restore, and celebrate the health and well-being of the Grand Canyon River guiding community. Whale Foundation provides guides with a connection to counseling services and offers education scholarships, health insurance assistance, health and wellness resources, and financial literacy.
